Cell Line Name

COR-L24

Cell Line Description

The cell line COR-L24 was established from a lymph node biopsy of an untreated 71 year old male and was diagnosed as small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). Bone marrow taken from the same patient contained hypercellular marrow consistent with normal haemopoietic cells and no evidence of neoplasm. In culture, this xenograft forming cell line grows as floating aggregates of packed cells with irregular shape. Cell line COR-L103 (ECACC catalogue no. 96020735) was established from the same patient, having been isolated after treatment.

Culture Conditions

Subculture Routine

This cell line normally takes an extended period to establish from frozen stock. Culture cells in flasks standing upright, seeding at 7-8 x 10⁵ / ml using 20% FBS supplemented media. Cells will form large aggregates and should eventually start to proliferate after 7-10 days in culture.Monitor cells microscopically on a daily basis and only add fresh media when healthy viable clumps are observed. Avoid centrifuging these cells and instead dilute cultures with fresh media down to 3-4 x 10⁵ / ml. Cultures should be counted regularly and will need diluting every 4-5 days to maintain healthy growth.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Growth Mode

Aggregates in suspension

The Culture Collections represent deposits of cultures from world-wide sources. While every effort is made to ensure details distributed by Culture Collections are accurate, Culture Collections cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies in the data supplied. References where quoted are mainly attributed to the establishment of the cell culture and not for any specific property of the cell line, therefore further references should be obtained regarding cell culture characteristics. Passage numbers where given act only as a guide and Culture Collections does not guarantee the passage number stated will be the passage number received by the customer.

Cultures supplied by Culture Collections are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line.
