30 years enabling cell culture

30 years of ECACC - HOMEPAGE

November 2015 marks 30 years since the establishment of PHE’s European Collection of Authenticated Cell Cultures (ECACC). Ensuring that cell cultures are grown in the correct conditions, free from contamination and remain authentic with the expected phenotype and genotype requires professional expertise.  ECACC was formed in 1985 to provide a trustworthy source of authentic human and animal cell cultures for use throughout the scientific community.

An article in the September 2015 edition of The Biologist highlights the role of ECACC and cell culture science in advancing our understanding of and ability to diagnose, treat and prevent human diseases such as cancer, diabetes and polio.
