Cell Line Description

Resistant to osmolarity changes within 225-400 mosmols and to chloride levels 4-80mM; the usual Na/K ratio of 1.6 can be both increased and decreased considerably. Viruses present are non-pathogenic but can be induced when inoculated into a new host.

Maintain cultures between 3-9x100,000 cells/ml. Cells may adhere to the tissue culture flask, shake gently to dislodge; 25°C; No CO₂.

Culture Medium

Schneider's Drosophila medium + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
