Cell Line Description

A trypsinised variant of LS180 (ECACC catalogue no. 87021202), both lines being derived from a 58 year old female with Dukes type B adenocarcinoma of the colon. The cells have microvilli and intracytoplasmic vacuoles. The cells are tumorigenic in nude mice.

Subculture Routine

Cells grow in islands and tend to pile on top of each other. Some cells may subsequently fall off into suspension and all cells produce a considerable amount of debris. Split culture when approx. 40-50% confluent, seeding at 2-5x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.05% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA. Can take up to 7 days for cells to attach post sub culture.

Recommended growth conditions 5% CO2; 37°C.

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
